If you are interested about moving olive picking in having a vacation with a difference There are places you are welcome to join in and help and where olives are harvested by hand – . Olive picking holidays can be found in a variety of areas of Italy, with Umbria, Le Marche and Abruzzi providing the best option. You can spend anything from a day to several weeks picking. Also as we did not work as a volunteer, you can choose between a luxury break or opt. This report explains how we went to a picking vacation in Italy volunteering with the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers. Last November we Travelled to Umbria in Italy to begin a week’s ‘vacation’ olive picking.

Arranged our flights, having paid our money and boarded that now remained was for us to meet up in Spoleto station with our olive pickers. There were eight people on this holiday, most remaining for most people and a week novice Italian olive oil. Accommodation was in a gorgeous stone house which had been the home of the household working the grove. The evening air was scented with mint and thyme and although it was nearly dark when we arrived it was possible to make out the shape of the olive trees that surrounded us.
